Current Sewer Rates

A. Residential Uses

B. Eating establishments and commercial and industrial uses.

(1) Connection fees for eating establishments and commercial and industrial uses shall be as follows:

(2) Provided, however, that the Sewer Department reserves the right to establish a higher fee should the commercial, industrial or other user incorporate a large quantity of water in its operation. In such cases, the higher fee shall be calculated by multiplying the number of equivalent domestic consumer units to be utilized by the user at three hundred (300) gallons of water per day times seven hundred and fifty dollars ($750.00).


Schedule of Annual Rates; Senior Citizens’ Reduction

A. Residential sewer connections shall be charged at an annual rate of  $542.00 per domestic consumer unit, defined as follows:

B. Payment for connection fees for existing single-family residential dwellings that are required to connect to the sewer system because of sewer main extension by either the borough or new development may be made over a four-year period in quarterly installments of not less than $50 without penalty. When the Borough of Clayton Water and Sewer Department has to purchase county allowed to make payments for the connection fees over a six-year period in quarterly installments of not less than $95.83, without penalty.
 
C. Commercial sewer connections shall be charged at an annual rate of $542.00 per commercial consumer unit, defined as follows:

D. Heavy commercial and industrial customers.

(1) Heavy commercial and industrial customers shall be billed based on water consumption as follows:

  • (a) Up to 24,000 gallons per quarter: $135.50.
  • (b) Per 1,000 gallons above 24,000: $4.50.

(2) Heavy commercial and industrial customers shall include industrial or manufacturing facilities, restaurants, diners, taverns, bars, nursing homes, car washes, large retail stores, large commercial buildings, fleet operations, animal shelters, large office buildings, maintenance facilities and swim clubs, but only wastewater from fixtures of said swim clubs.

E. Additional charges shall be billed quarterly for the following items:

F. Senior citizens (age 65 years or more) having an annual income not in excess of the limitations provided in N.J.S.A. 54:48.40 which provides for real estate by such senior citizens shall be charged at an annual rate of $326.00 per domestic consumer unit. Determination of eligibility for the reduced rate provided for herein shall be made in accordance with the standards in effect for provisions of N.J.S.A. 54:4-80.40 et seq.; as said section shall be amended from time to time, together with any applicable regulations promulgated thereunder.
