Pet Licenses

Dog & Cat Regulations:

Households in the Borough of Clayton shall be limited to four licensed dogs and four licensed cats, with the exception of those having a commercial kennel license. No person shall own, keep, harbor or maintain any dog or cat over seven months of age within the Borough of Clayton unless such dog or cat is licensed. Read more here: Borough of Clayton, NJ; Part II: General Legislation; Chapter 53: Dogs and Cats

2024 Pet Licenses
 

The deadline to register your pets is April 30, 2024. To obtain a license, you will need to:

1. Provide a copy of your pet's rabies certificate. The rabies vaccine must be good through at least November 1, 2024.

2. Provide payment: a check or money order made out to the Borough of Clayton is acceptable as well as cash. The cost is $9.00 for a spayed or neutered pet or $12.00 if not spayed or not neutered. There is also a $4.00 late fee if not licensed by April 30th.

3. Pay in person, by mail, or by drop box. If you use mail or our dropbox, you will need to include a self-addressed stamped envelope so that we can send your license(s) and tag(s). There is a Dropbox inside Borough Hall and one outside. If you are sending by mail, the address is: Borough of Clayton, 125 N. Delsea Drive, Clayton, NJ 08312.

Please note that Borough Hall is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM -12:30 PM and 1:30-4:00 PM. The Borough is closed from 12:30-1:30 PM for lunch.
